THE PEROVER

The Perot TECH Truck Rover project is a robotic rover that is meant to spark a conversation with participants about mars rovers and other space dwelling robots. When I started at the Perot the main structure of the robot was in place, it was able to drive and take sensor data but not much else. In this build log I will document the improvements I make to the robot and chronicle the process as I improve upon the rover.

BLOCKLY BOT

Blockly Bot is a universal robotics platform that I am building for the Perot TECH Truck. It will be built around an Arduino Nano and it will be programed using a graphical block-based programming language called Blockly. The goal of this project is to create an educational platform to teach kids about coding, microcontrollers, electronics, and more.

TECH TRUCK INTRANET

At the Perot Museum of Nature and Science there is an internal website called the Perot Museum Intranet. This website is used by employees and staff to keep track of current events, submit IT tickets, and perform other inter-departmental tasks. After exploring this helpful tool I decided to create one specifically for the TECH truck team and their unique needs.

PAPER CIRCUITS

In this program that I created for the Perot TECH truck the participants use electronic components, printouts of circuit diagrams, and copper tape to create a working circuit. The participants use the copper tape to trace the traces of the circuit diagram and then solder the components in place all on a piece of paper. The goal of this project is to teach the participants about electronics and to get them started with simple skills like soldering.
